Let’s welcome all our new neighbors to Grizzly Ranch!

Welcome to Gary and Linda Krystek! Gary is a Director of Contracts for an aerospace company, and Linda is the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for a charter school network. They live full-time in Sparks and since November 2020, they own a home on Blacktail Ridge in our community. The Krystek’s have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. They now enjoy spending time with their family on weekends in their new home or outdoors – hiking, birdwatching, walking their dog, Daisy, exploring new areas, and watching sunsets. Gary loves to play guitar and work on home projects. Linda enjoys photography, interior design, gardening, and she loves to play Bunco. When Covid-19 restrictions loosen, they are looking forward to traveling, spending time with friends and family, celebrating holidays and birthdays together, and hosting family at the cabin!

Jim and Sandy just purchased a home located at 187 Red Hawk Drive. For 40 years, Jim was a Purchasing Manager in the lumber industry, and Sandy for 30 years was in the pharmaceutical industry. They are now both retired and have 3 grown children.  Jim and Sandy are very family-oriented and love spending time with both sides of our families. They’ve owned property in Tahoe for about 20 years and permanently lived on the north shore of Lake Tahoe for 6 years.

Although they loved living in Tahoe, especially enjoying boating, kayaking, biking, and skiing, Jim and Sandy saw first-hand how Tahoe has gotten so incredibly busy and impacted by people. They began to yearn for a peaceful, laid back, mountain community where they could still enjoy all the outdoor activities they so enjoy, without all the crowds. Grizzly Ranch and the surrounding area seemed like a perfect fit for them, as Jim golfs, and Sandy would like to learn the game. They love to entertain and have always enjoyed having family and friends come for a visit, and that is already continuing now at Grizzly Ranch. The Kerns  moved to GR March 2021, and they’re really excited and are looking forward to the golf course and all of the other amenities opening, so they can start meeting their new Grizzly Ranch neighbors.

Tom and Dawn Schaeffer are not new neighbors, but they do have a new home in Grizzly Ranch. They recently moved up the road to Peppergrass Lane where they’ll now have plenty of room for their 3 children and expanding family of grandchildren who love to visit. Tom and Dawn enjoy fly-fishing, hiking in the Lakes Basin area, and playing golf. We’re so glad they decided to stay in Grizzly Ranch.

Lori and Don Welsh along with Mike and Sharon Hardy are new owners of a Grizzly Ranch vacation home located on Blue Grouse. Lori, a residential realtor, and Don who’s a commercial realtor live full time in Reno. They are planning to enjoy all the Grizzly Ranch area has to offer including hiking, golfing at Grizzly Ranch, paddle boarding, and fishing at Lake Davis. They have 4 children, 3 grandchildren and their 2 dogs, Rosie and Quinn.

Mike, a retired Fire Chief and his wife Sharon live in Sacramento. They have 3 married daughters and look forward to enjoying mountain time with their 7 grandchildren.

Richard, who grew up in Nevada, is the Safety Manager at a gold mine in Smoky Valley, Nev., and Denise, originally from Seattle, who later moved to Reno, is the Human Resources Manager at the mine. They also have a cattle ranch, and when they’re not spending time at the ranch, they’re home in Sparks. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 2-10 years old. Denise loves to bake, and they both enjoy vacationing in Hawaii.

After spending many summers playing golf in Graeagle, they discovered Grizzly Ranch last year and now look forward to spending time with their family at the Sugar Pine Cabin, which they bought in August 2020. Both Richard and Denise will be golfing at Grizzly Ranch this year and are excited to go hiking with their golden retriever, Bella in the Lakes Basin area and near Lake Tahoe. We are happy to welcome them to Grizzly Ranch!

Say hello to Brian and Shannon Smith, the new owners of the Creekside Cabin. Brian, who works in cyber security and Shannon, a busy full time Mom, reside full-time in Folsom with their children Drew and Lily and their Siberian Husky, Kira. They’re thrilled to be able to spend weekends at Grizzly Ranch in their cabin. Brian is very familiar with the area having golfed at all the local courses over the last 30 years. Their family enjoys camping, taking their RV to the beach and the mountains, and playing Bunco! Camping helped get them out of the house over the last year. They look forward to hiking in the Lakes Basin Region, fishing, and playing golf where you’ll see Brian and his son Drew on Grizzly Ranch Golf Course.
